5 feeds followed by architects

To be inspired you need a little inspiration time by time. Creativity is a given gift that you can let grow on your own but there are some times, your creativity fails and your mind is burn out. Sitting in front of your desk, staring on a white sheet of paper, you wish you will have any idea to solve a problem.

It often helps if you just push this problem away for 15 or 20 minutes and give your mind some new input. Usually you will not find the solution of your project but you will see other strategies. They have not to be mind blowing new! Often you are deep in your work and you forgot all the strategies you ever had seen and grabbing some new input might open the doors in your mind that were closed for too long.

Some feeds, which regularly get a slight detour are the following:

1. Dezeen

Dezeen

Dezeen

Dezeen is an architecture and design magazine which was shown me in my first semester of university by an older student. They have different categories from design, over light, to interior and of course architecture.

2. ArchDaily

Arch Daily

Arch Daily

Has tons of posts every day and is kind of flooding my feed that sometimes I think I should better unfollow… just kidding. ArchDaily shows you loads of new projects and because there are so many architects in the world, working on so many great projects, there are so many new articles every day. With a short look on the teaser-photography you can estimate if it might be interesting for you.

3. Houzz

Houzz

Houzz is more a creative treasure chest for DIY ideas. As an house owner you can find there many ideas but also as an architect you can give your clients good references and even for your own house or flat you can get thousands of ideas. Most interesting are articles like „the five best ways to…“. In my opinion. They are a collected sheet of ideas and they are mostly good researched.

4. Arch:Shortcuts

Arch:Shortcuts

There are not so many blogposts. It is more like a digital diary and maybe close to this blog here.On their first page they have the definition of ‚shortcut‘ to explain what this site wants to show you: „1. An alternative route that is shorter than the one usually taken. 2. An accelerated way of doing or achieving something. (Oxford Dictionary)“

5. Social Media Week

Social Media Week

Social Media Week

Now you might think „what architectural topic might they have?“ and you are right. They do not have any connection to architecture but they write a lot about productivity and how to stay creative and effective so they talk about a lot of tools you use daily as an architect.

What feeds do you follow and which ones give you your inspiration or your daily portion of advanced training?
